| TradieFinder.com is different from other directories in that it enables businesses to be rated by their clients. Rating is presented on TradieFinder in two ways: |
| 1. Star Rating: Customers are able to rate the service provided by the business from one to five stars and is an overall combination of customer's rating for quality, reliability and value of the service provided by the business. |
| 2. Reviews: Customers can write reviews about their personal experience with businesses and share it with other users. Reviews are accessible from each business' advertisement and are displayed by clicking on the stars. Sharing personal experience by writing a review is one of the most effective ways to recommend a tradie. |
Business providers interested in improving their rating can contact their clients through TradieFinder via SMS requesting the clients to rate. Although TradieFinder does not interfere with this process, a quality control system has been put in place preventing inappropriate use of the website by both clients and business providers. Only customers are able to rate and write reviews and there are review guidelines that must be met. |

|
We all know that time is money – especially in our industry! TradieFinder has a few tips for you to save on both. Firstly, it pays to ensure you always have sufficient stock levels in your vehicle of tools and consumables used on a daily basis. There is nothing more frustrating or time consuming than having to drive back to a shop to get something that you need to finish a job. Having an organised vehicle and planning your jobs is vital to making sure you’re not wasting unnecessary time travelling to get supplies.
There are many specialised products that can really save you time. For example, there are several products for painters to use such as roller spinners/roller squeegees that remove a majority of the paint from the roller before even starting to wash it out. Brush cleaners/combs will also save time and make sure that the equipment will last longer than just one job.
It may even pay to sometimes select application tools that meet your quality standards, but can easily be disposed of at the end of the job. Perhaps that is worth more to you than the time required to clean out tools at the end of the day. |

No matter how big or small the job, the most important factor customers consider when hiring a tradie is to find someone competent, reliable and trustworthy. It is likely that the customer will want to find out a little bit about you and your work before hiring you for the job – and why wouldn’t they? The customer needs to feel comfortable with you, since you will likely be spending a fair amount of time discussing the work to be done. So, it’s best to be prepared for the questions the customer may fire at you in the initial stages. Here is a list of what the customer may want to know:
- Verification of business registration and licenses.
- Online presence with websites like TradieFinder – best to try and get reviews from pervious customers up online as this reflects well on your business.
- References checks (both suppliers and previous jobs).
- Customers may wish to see work done in other homes – see if you can arrange that with previous customers. Also, see if you can arrange for the customer to drop by a current jobsite to see work in progress.
- Insurance policy details.
- Some may ask for a performance bond for the entire cost of the project if it is more than $6,000.
- Explain any potential inconveniences, variables, potential weather concerns, etc. and come to an agreement, in writing, on how they will be handled.
- Ensure to leave the property neat and clean!
- Evaluate all aspects of the job-scope of work, product and material warranties, references, time frames and price - get everything in writing and do not sign anything until there is agreement on all aspects of the job.
